Hello All-

Thank you for visiting my blog!

I am starting this blog to track my primal 21 day experiment.  What is a primal 21 day experiment?  Well, in a nutshell, it’s something I am doing to challenge myself and to see what happens- how will it make me feel.  If you aren’t familiar with the Primal diet and lifestyle I will go into more detail in a blog post later, but, basically it’s eating whole foods- meats that are grass fed; veggies; fruit; healthy fats.  There are, what seems to be, a lot of things that are on the DO NOT EAT list: dairy; grains; legumes; along with some other stuff.

I have tried the Paleo diet before and LOVED it.  Life happened and I fell off the “wagon”.

Why am I doing this?

Well, that’s a great question!  I am 29 years old and I was diagnosed with thyroid CANCER that spread to my lymph nodes a year ago.  Prior to that my boyfriend and I were avid outdoor enthusiast.  We loved climbing, hiking, nature, etc…  Once I was diagnosed that all came to a standstill and 1 year ago in the month of December 2013 I gained 50 LBS from a preparation for radiation.  Needless to say I no longer have a thyroid and have yet to be able to lose the weight.  My Dr. wants me to do another radiation in 1 month and I am not mentally ready to go through it again.  Long story short, there is- what seems to be- a great option to take some shots and not gain the weight again.  However, I am not sure this option is the right one for me.  My next step is to visit another few Dr.’s and get their views on the matter at hand.

In the meantime:

I say why not try to make myself has healthy as possible before all of the shit?  So, I am giving this a go.  I don’t know a ton of stuff about the Primal diet and lifestyle, so, it will be a learning experience along the way.

What is my plan of action?

1) Eat Primal approved foods!!! DUH

2) Take a daily vitamin

3) No drinking… okay, maybe I just changed my mind about this whole thing!!!

4) Yoga 3x a week

5) According to Primal Living I need to run full out 1x per week… yay me

6) Extra slow paced movement throughout the day

7) Measure my body and weight day 0- that’s today!  and day 22

8) Some other s**t I am sure I am forgetting

Oh geez, I should have given myself more time to prepare!  But, I know myself and if I took anymore time to get my mind around this I would NOT do it!

I am excited to track my progress along the way and I hope you follow along with me 🙂

Wish me LUCK!
